Our fees for mediation sessions and written work are as follows:

The Initial Assessment meeting called a MIAM = £70 per person.

(This is a private one to one with a fully qualified Family Mediator for up to 1 hour)

Joint Mediation Session = £100 per hour, per person.

(Joint Meetings with your Family Mediator normally not lasting more than 1 ½ hours. You may require several joint meetings depending on the complexity of your case and the level of communication being achieved).

Child Inclusive Mediation – we can provide this service. NB There will be a minimum of three meetings. We can offer this as a package = £500.

“All children and young people aged 10 and above should be offered the opportunity to have their voices heard directly during the Mediation, if they wish.” (FMC Code of Practice, s. 5.7.2)

Mediation Summaries provided by the mediator

Memorandum of Understanding (M of U) – relating to children = £75 per copy

Memorandum of Understanding relating to Finances & Property = £100 per copy

(A memorandum of understanding is document which sets out proposals decided between two or more parties. It is not legally binding but signals the willingness of the parties to move forward. An application for a legal order can be made to the Family Court).

Combined Finances & Property with Child Arrangements = £175 per copy.

These fees are in place to cover the cost of the significant additional work that is carried out by the mediator and office staff following mediation.

NB by expecting the Mediator to formulate an M of U, WSMS would expect payment to be made, by both parties, irrespective of what they choose to do with it thereafter. The document is not released until payment is made, by both parties.

Our mediators are authorised to complete a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting –

Form A or a Form C100 for an additional fee of £70.

If mediation doesn’t proceed, but such an assessment has taken place, a client can then use this form to enable court proceedings to be issued.

NB For any last-minute cancellations of a meeting (less than 48 hrs) there will be a chargeable

fee of £25 to cover incurred costs.

We normally take payment in advance of any meeting. This can be made by bank transfer or by payment in cash to the office. (This had to be imposed due to defaults on payments).
